Welcome To The Sugar Show

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the Sugar Show, the podcast for beauty pros ready to drop the wax stick, master body sugaring the smart way, and build a career that loves you back. Whether you're brand new or a seasoned sugar pro, there's something sweet for you in every episode. I'm the Sugar Mama. Let's get into it.

SPEAKER_01

Hello, Miss Sarah. Welcome back to the Sugar Show. Hi, Shannon. Thanks for having me back on here. I'm so excited.

SPEAKER_00

Always. I love having you on here. So, you know, we've been talking about sugar con all summer.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I got my little sugar con pin on right here. Oh, how did you get one? And you'll get one at the at the convention. Everybody's gonna get a little pin.

SPEAKER_00

I love that. I need a sugar con pin. I'll wear it proudly on my apron. Um, so as we've been talking about sugarcon all summer, shoot, all year. And uh we'll talk about that in a minute. Um, but I wanted to start by putting you on the sweet seat, not the hot seat, but the sweet seat. And I want to acknowledge you first and foremost as a professional, because I think we don't do this enough in our industry where we acknowledge those that are really killing it in the industry and raise each other up and really talk about how we got to where we are, because that's really our job is to educate these folks and make sure that the audience knows, like you didn't just like make up the name, you know. I didn't make up, oh, I'm the sugar mama. My clients gave me that name, and that's in another podcast. Um, but I really want to celebrate your sweet success story because it is really a good one. Um, and I want to, I have to ask the million-dollar question. How did you go from beauty school even before beauty school, to becoming and calling yourself the million-dollar sugarist?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so it is kind of a crazy story. Um, I kind of never really knew what I wanted to do in in life in general. Um, I went to college for business, and um, that was sort of like a cop-out, right? Like, I'm just gonna get a business degree and then I'll like figure something out along with it. And while I was in college for business, I worked at Sephora and I fell in love with putting makeup on people and the way they would react to it, and they like felt so good about themselves afterwards, and I would like connect with the women and you know, that's such like a small part of your job working at Sephora. More most of it is like retail and all of that. So I decided to go to beauty school and um just get like an associate's degree and not finish the full degree, which I'll get to later because I'm just made a post recently about how I'm finishing that next time.

SPEAKER_00

No, let's talk about it right now.

Returning To College While Scaling

SPEAKER_00

Because I I had no idea that you through putting together sugar con, running your businesses, uh being a mom, all of the things you're finishing college.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and 20 years later, finishing college. Yes. You just got recognized by school. And it's crazy. Um, yeah, it's been a wild time. And now I'm in the communications program uh at the Scripps College at OU, which is like just such an honor that I'm able to do that and like all the other things that I'm doing. Um yeah, and I like forget that, you know, there's like grades and like end of year stuff for college. So when I got the email that I would made that like provost list or whatever however you say it, um, I started crying because I felt so seen. Like it's a list for people who are, you know, taking school part-time because they're going through other like hardships and you know, whether it's raising families or working or whatever. And I was like, I didn't know that was a thing. I didn't know that existed.

SPEAKER_00

Um you're literally like, I'm gonna make lunch. Yes, I'm gonna do payroll for the sugar bar. I'm gonna just do a quick paper. Oh, and I'm gonna um go visit the convention center to make sure that it's on point for sugar con. Like literally, I'm tired just looking at you and you look refreshed as a daisy.

SPEAKER_01

Literally, all the things. Yeah, yeah. I woke up today like a little bit congested, and I was like, no, we don't have time for that. We're just gonna we're gonna pocket that for another day when we have time.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Okay, so I digress.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I uh when I went to beauty school, I was like, I don't know about this, like I don't know anything. You know, when you're young and you like literally don't know what you want to do, and everything's kind of like whatever. Um, so my first job out of beauty school, I worked for a salon. I

Discovering Sugaring Through A Mentor

SPEAKER_01

worked for this incredible Romanian woman. She was so crazy and so good at her job. And like I was taught so many amazing skincare things, but one of the things that she did was sugaring, and I had never seen it before. And I thought it was so incredible. Um, and I just picked it up. She was very busy, so like while she spent a lot of time with me on the skincare stuff, the sugaring was kind of like, here you go, figure this out, you know. Um and I started practicing with it. And over that time that I was practicing and doing it on myself, like every day and flinging it all over the place, I realized that it literally cured the eczema that was all over my legs. So when I was younger, I remember like my 21st birthday, I wouldn't even wear a skirt or shorts. I remember putting makeup all over my legs to hide my eczema. I had patches and the scars and all that. And while sugaring and learning to sugar, it all went away. And it never comes back. I shouldn't use the word cure because there is no you know real cure. But as long as I sugar at least once every six months on my legs, which is how often I do it today, um, it won't come back. So that but I fell in love with it from

Confidence And Safety In Brazilians

SPEAKER_01

that point on. So, anyways, um the second thing I fell in love with about sugaring was how it made women feel to do a Brazilian and to have them, you know, connect with you and say things like, Does my vulva look okay? You know, and you're like, What? Why wouldn't it? Like, why wouldn't it look okay? I'll tell you it does. Yes. And I'm like, of course it looks okay. It looks amazing, you know, and you just you get you get to hype people up and and then you realize that that's so important for women to feel safe in an intimate space like that. Um, and so it became really important to me to make sure that their entire experience from start to finish was in a safe space like that. And I started kind of forming this idea for like a business that completely revolves around that. Um, because we did a lot of skincare and the Brazilians were sort of secondary. So yeah, I kind of um I think I went with her to a lot of the trade shows and like I was in Miami and there was like wax bar, tattoo bar, and I just thought of like sugar bar. And at that time there weren't any sugar bars. Now there's like a lot of them, and people kind of play off the name a little bit, I've seen. Um, but I came back and was just like really inspired.

Building Sugar Bar And Team Culture

SPEAKER_01

And so I think it still took me like a year and a half or so, because I did work for her for a little bit, um, to open sugar bar. And even from there, it was just a small business. It was just me. And I hired a receptionist because I was so busy. I knew I would have um, I knew I'd be busy because there weren't any other sugaring places near me doing this at the time. Now there's so many in Ohio, it's crazy. And so it just kind of grew from there. So every year I hired a new person because we just kept expanding. And then today I have two locations. Um, I'd honestly have to count because we've just remodeled and expanded and kind of done like a little growth period again lately. I think I have 14 employees. Um, and it's just absolutely incredible. Like my team that the team I have right now is the greatest team. Every one of them just really has like adopted all of the things that I believe in in business. Um, and that's incredible to see the way that they take care of their clients, the way that they do the ongoing training. I just did ongoing training with one of my newer employees the other day. And um, I was like, you are so good at this. It's just it's just awesome. Yeah. So that's kind of how Sugar Bar has grown. I put a lot of work into the culture of the team and the spa itself because I want people to feel comfortable and beautiful and safe. And that's the most important thing to me.

SPEAKER_00

So when

Hitting A Million In Revenue

SPEAKER_00

did you hit your million dollars to actually be able to say you're a million-dollar surgeon?

SPEAKER_01

It was a couple years before I got to that point, but I remember when it happened, I was probably, I think I was four or five years in business, and I'm always have been bad at numbers. Like I've always been like bad. So my sister, who's a finance person, a lot of you guys have heard of Amy and seen me do stuff with her. She was like, Are you really making that much money? Like, I remember we were looking at something together, and I had said, Hey, I just noticed like I've been increasing by 25% every year since blah, blah, blah. And she's like, Are you serious? And she like made me sit down and look at it. And I was like, Yeah. And she's like, Holy shit. And all you're doing is sugaring. And I was like, Yeah. So I'm not sugaring. I'm not dumb. I just never, I was just everything's been so great that I'm like, la la la. My employees are so happy. We're all so happy. Um, and it's funny because I used to always say when I opened my business, I did not start a business to make a million dollars. I want clients to be happy, I want my employees to be happy. Um, and I want to love what I'm doing. I'm also a person in recovery. I actually am celebrating 11 years sober coming up soon. So a big part of my um like business values, the things I look to are all like very spiritual, very like with language of recovery, um, supporting women, supporting people that maybe come from different paths of life. And so I just have always kind of, I always kind of what's the word, like focus my business around those like morally good decisions, I guess. Um, so yeah, making all the money wasn't important to me for a long time. Now I'm like, okay, I've got a house, I've got kids, and I have to like pay bills, payroll and taxes and oh my god. But at the time, everything's twice as expensive as it was, you know, 12 years ago when I started. But at the time it was very much like survival and happiness, and I just want to be um free to be myself. And and I was given that gift. Yeah, but yeah, that million dollar mark was very anticlimactic for me because it was sort of like oh yeah, that's pretty amazing. I guess I am doing that. And then up to the next day, right? Yeah. I was like, okay, cool. Okay, let's do that again next year. Let's just like keep doing that. Um, and then you know, COVID hit, and um, I was so scared about what was gonna happen with my business, and we actually had a growth period right after COVID, and that made me realize how important we are as service providers to people. Um, and that's when I opened my second location was after COVID. Because I was like, I want to keep going with this and growing and and providing these services to people that really need it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I really think if that's the focus is the people that are on your table and you're in your lobby. And the focus is not, oh, how can we look good on socials? How can we, you know, have the prettiest whatever? Your socials are great, your you know, stuff is pretty. But if that if that's the first thing that you're doing and trying to add things to all people and you're not focusing on that table, that's when your skills aren't as good. That's when your business isn't as great, and you're and you will suffer. Yeah, and so um, yeah, so kudos to you because I think it's really important.

Why SugarCon Focuses On Real Pros

SPEAKER_00

And what I, you know, I loved SugarCon last year. I've been tooting a horn this whole time. Yes, thank you. It's much appreciated. Yes, absolutely. But one of the things I I want you to know, and I think I I know I've shared this with you, is I want to align my business with other professional, solid. I want to go to speakers who are professional. I want to learn something, right? You want to learn something. I want to go to a conference and have the speakers be top quality and the education, the classes be top quality, and the vendors be top quality. And that was one of the things that really resonated for me at SugarCon was how it was the first one you ever did, and it was like how well it was run. And that's not just me saying that to make you feel good, Sarah. It really is, you know, every little detail was thought about. And the love that was in that room was was just phen phenomenal. For a first-time event was unheard of. I mean, I've been to a few first-time events and they were not good. But really knowing that you because it's there is something to be said for that next level of going from solo to like million-dollar business, and few of us have actually done it. Yeah. And so if if the people that are speaking and teaching are at that level, then I feel like we're able to give, you know, to rise the ships to help everyone else come up too. But I have a respect for women like you in our industry and men who are actually doing the job and paying the bills and employing people and teaching the right way, opposed to just starting a class and hoping you can make money, opening a business and hoping that it goes right, which you did in the very, very beginning, but you quickly now realize what you would have done different. Oh, 100%. And so your your students and your attendees can learn from talks like that, because it's not just, oh, I'm gonna go on, you know, AI and print up a speech about how to make a great business. I mean, AI is learning from us.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and and the the articles that we've written. And and I don't say that to toot the horn. I say that to say, audience, make sure you vet the places that you're going to and the classes that you're taking and the people that you're hearing speak. Because just because someone says they have a class doesn't mean they're really a good educator.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and I learned that the hard way a lot of times over the years. And um, even with SugarCon, this year I really paid attention to like the educators that I want to have and the people that I want to bring in. And um, there were some things that like we were a little bit disappointed in last year. And so this year we really took time and like selected the people that were having speak, and I think that it's such an amazing lineup. Um, I actually took myself off the roster for teaching because I want to go to these classes, right? Right. I want my team to be able to go to these classes. Um, and you guys can people can train with me anytime, you know what I mean? And and so, and my classes are online, and I want to be able to to reach these educators too. And so that's that's very important to me. Um, just because somebody has, you know, a presence or has been um sugaring for a long time doesn't mean that they are able to educate in a formal setting. And I have learned that the hard way over time.

SPEAKER_00

And just because you have funny socials doesn't make you a yeah, I don't want people to business owners. There is a big difference between someone who has funny socials or has their name all over a Facebook community and someone who actually is like making a million dollars in their business. I want to listen to that person, right? I want to listen to that person that's gonna lift me, not the person that's funny.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and and I think education is very

Choosing Educators Who Can Teach

SPEAKER_01

important. I'm really excited. Like our educator list, I was just looking at it earlier because I posted it. And um, you know, Nichelle Foster Mosley, I'm so excited to hear her speak, and she's just speaking on skincare. And, you know, it's it's gonna be so amazing for us, though, as sugarists, to really work that into our treatment rooms because we're treating skin of all types and it's just so incredible. And um, of course, my thing is not loading here. But we have um, you know, with Jarrett, we have uh Deborah, we have um Christy, who you just interviewed, Christy and her business building class. So I was just talking to her privately, and I was like, I think I want to do like private coaching with her, even because somebody who's built the business, who's scaled their business, she has turned her little sugaring place now into a full-scale med spa. I mean, you guys, that's absolutely incredible. That's somebody who's really like walking the walk, talking the talk, you know, like we've discussed. Um is doing our male Brazilian and his technique is fantastic. He's also an educator for Love to Sugar. So that's an incredible class. A lot of the classes are also being taught twice, the really ones that are popular that have been up here for a while that I know people are looking forward to attending. If you are worried about missing it, you can catch it later in the afternoon or the next day, so that we don't have to worry about that. Um, Amy Kellerman, such an educated queen. She is coming from Sweden to teach this. Like it's it's really gonna, it's really an incredible lineup. So make sure you guys are checking out Instagram. What she lives in Sweden? Yes. I had no idea. Oh yes, isn't that crazy? So she's she's amazing. Yeah, I'm really excited about her class too.

Sugar Skills Bar Hands-On Fixes

SPEAKER_00

One of the things we're excited about to share with all of you is if you haven't heard already, is um Sarah's gonna be doing some different things besides the fact that you have lots of really great snacks and coffee bars and different yummy things, like because the last conference I went to, we like we did not get fed and we were very sad. But yeah, fed well at SugarCon. And so it was um it was one of my favorite one of my favorite little side notes uh to tell you. Uh, but one of we're uh you're doing a couple little different things at the show, and I'm excited because we are doing a sugar skills bar. We're playing kind of off the bar theme as well. Yes. And we're gonna do a sugar skills. And so the idea, we you and I are talking about it, is I get a lot of people at the booth, even though they say they're sugaring, I get business owners that come up to me at a booth at a show, and they're then they they say, Oh, you know, I want to try this paste. So they put their hand in the jar and I realize they don't actually know how to sugar. And yeah, and which is there's no judgment, right? But just a couple of tweaks to lighten their adjust their flick. Game changing. So uh our education team is gonna be there doing uh, you can ask any question in the sugar skills bar.

SPEAKER_01

I love this part. I think this is gonna make such a difference for attendees to be able to do this and to have a space for it where we can, you know, the tables will be laid out, and I think this is gonna be really amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you they're not gonna be sold anything. Oh, use our you know, Elixir, use our finishing lotion. Like, no, you're not gonna be sold anything. You're literally, I mean, Sarah's gonna come in and teach a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I'm gonna throw an apron on and work too. I'm excited.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, if you're listening to this and you normally sugar, you know, Brazilians and legs and backs and you are scared to do brows still, come in and work with us. If you do not know how to do noses and ears, come in and work with us. You already know how to sugar. Um, if you're somebody who's like, why do people why are people in like pushing back, pulling back in pain? Well, it's probably because you're pushing too hard. Let's see your technique. If we can help you at SugarCon get your mind right, your heart right, and your skills right, mission accomplished.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, sometimes people will pay, you know, a lot of money and travel to come do training with me. And within the first 25 minutes, I've corrected what their issue was. So I even the first seven minutes, right? Like you're looking at their hand and their posture and the way that they're pressing and the way that they're flicking. So I think this has such value to do this hands-on coaching. Um, and the area that it's going to be set up in, there's so much room and natural light, and you're going to be able to see so well. Yeah, I think that this is really a high value thing that you normally would pay a lot for to be coached by somebody like that.

SPEAKER_00

The the name actually came, it was kind of funny. The name actually came. Um, I was thinking, like, you know, we should do something like Apple has the genius bar. Yes. And the geniuses, like, help fix it, right? Yeah. And you're like, well, call it the sugar skills bar. I said, well, your place is called the sugar bar. It's like, I don't care. I think it's cool. It goes together, the sugar skills bar. Yes, but I was very, I was very um much sensitive to the fact that my name is Yeah, Shana was like, but that's your name.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, uh no, it's fine. It's not. Just my name is Vintage. Yes, my name is take it a few times and I was a little bit clear about it. So it I'm like, uh, it's fine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's all good. So yeah, so we will be there, uh, and our education team will be there with like a little good vibe tribe vibe, and uh, and they're really excited about it.

SPEAKER_01

So um Yeah, I think it's gonna be awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Place to ask your questions that you're like, hey, I really am not good at this piece. Yeah, I really am not good at knees and elbows. Like, can you help me with that? And that's what this team will be uh working on, and it will be just a complimentary thing that we are gonna do um just in honor of our fellow sugar pros. So I think it's gonna be fun.

Planning Classes And Vendor Strategy

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay, so let's talk about the showroom floor and if there's anything new you want to tell them about, but also like how someone can make the most of their time and really make the most. There's so much to do. There is so much to do. Really like make the most of their time at your room.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So it's two days, right? And you have classes all day, starting at like 9 30, ending at I think 4 30. The exhibitor hall is nine to five. So how do you like make the most of your day, right? I Would sit down and look at that class list and plan out which classes you definitely want to go to. And then I would also look at our exhibitor list and our floor map in the Hoover app. And I would pick out which exhibitors, like in what order you know you want to for sure hit and talk to those people. And like after day one, go back and check your list and be like, I didn't get to talk to this person. And make sure you go back and do that. Because even as some of the bigger shows I've been to, I've made those mistakes. Like, oh my God, I didn't get to see this person. I have to make sure I do that on day two, you know. Um, and make that list. It's not a gigantic show, but it's big enough that you want to make sure, and you're gonna be, you know, getting caught up in networking and talking to so many people that you want to make sure that you're not forgetting somebody who's important to you because every person that you talk to, every vendor is valuable to you as a sugarist, you know, as a new sugarist. These vendors have been like specifically chosen almost. I didn't like you know, handpick each one of them. I've had a lot of people reach out, but um, I might as well have handpicked them because each one has such value to you as a sugarist. So last year we had, I think, 17 vendors. This year we're already at 27. So it's definitely it can feel overwhelming when you arrive to see all these vendors that are like, oh my God, each one is like perfect for me. Um, so make your list, you know, and then you can start that way.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely need to map it out for sure. And you know, and and engage, engage each booth and each educator. I mean, at the end of the day, this isn't just like a sample stash where you're just trying to sample everything, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Um I forgot something that I'm working on.

Referral Cash And Booth Trivia

SPEAKER_01

That's really exciting. So there's already like a referral contest in the Hoover app for anybody who's already bought a ticket. Like if you're referring friends and they're buying tickets, you can win cash prizes at the event. Um, I really like to give away cash. I don't know why. I just do. I think it's fun. I feel like cute little prizes and things are fun, but like at the end of the day, people like cash. So another thing where you can win um a cash prize is there's gonna be a trivia contest. And the trivia is gonna be kind of hard. It's gonna be specific things from each brand that wants to participate, and you're gonna have to go to the booths to find the answers. So that's gonna be a good way to kind of make sure that you guys are like remembering to engage with everybody. Um, but also it just makes it fun and you're gonna learn a lot of new things. They're not gonna be too hard, but it's gonna be things where you have to specifically probably go up and ask. Like, I don't think you'd be able to Google or like know the answer. Yeah. I don't I would never be able to figure out some of these answers by just like Googling. So all right.

SPEAKER_00

Let's better than just here, get your passport and have them stamp it. That's exactly.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't want to do that. Um, I felt like that is boring, and so this is more fun. It's like an actual trivia and it'll get you guys talking. And then also if you're introverted, it's a good way to like have a thing to say when you walk up to a booth and they'll be knowing that you're coming, right? So yeah.

Networking Through The Hoover App

SPEAKER_00

Uh let's talk for a moment about the Hoover app because last year I was like, Hoover, what's that? Who's that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, nobody's ever heard of Hoover until SugarCon did Hova. And I'm very proud of Hoover. It's a woman-owned uh company, a woman created it, of course, because it's fantastic. It's wildly expensive, it's worth every penny. I don't think I'll ever do an event again without the Hoover app. I love it so much. Um, it just makes everything so easy for you guys, for the attendees, like to chat with each other. There's already so many little chats going about our meetups and ride sharing and Airbnbs, and people are asking questions to the educators. And I like love it. I love the Hoover app. It's so it makes it so personal.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. So when you buy your ticket, you make sure you get that Hoover app, download it, because there is all kinds of stuff going on during the show, before the show, after the show. And it's a really great way to hook up with other people that are, you know, maybe in your state, maybe even in your area. And you didn't even realize that, you know, there's some place in Sacramento that I can hook up with, you know, and it's really fun, especially if you go by yourself or there's just you and a buddy to be able to hook up for dinner with friends. I mean, some of my best memories are going to the San Francisco skincare show or the San Jose face and body and having dinner with 12 people that I didn't know before. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. And that's what the Hoover app will do for you.

SPEAKER_01

So And you'll have your, oh, sorry. I say, and you'll have your agenda all right there. So like right on your phone in a little app, which makes it so nice too. Because you're not looking up like, oh my God, when is this class? What I wanted to go to this, it's all right there for you. It makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

Drag around papers and trying to check it out. Yes, yes.

Cleveland Favorites And Final Takeaways

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so last but not least, let's talk about uh Cleveland and how pleasantly surprised I was with how much I loved Cleveland.

SPEAKER_01

I think a lot of people were. I got a lot of good feedback on Cleveland, and Cleveland really showed up with the weather. It was great.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Um what I was surprised. What I I'm really bad with geography. Now, that might be one of those things that they have to ask in my booth is like, what's Shannon's worst subject? Actually, it's history and geography. History I'm terrible with, terrible. But um, geography, right? So I'm like, oh, we're gonna get to Cleveland, it'll be great. Didn't think twice about it. I get to Cleveland, I'm like, we're right on Lake Erie, right by the lake. Yeah. So this year I'm gonna take more advantage of I do need to, I have been to the Rocket Roll Hall of Fame. So I'm gonna go with a couple of the educators to that because it's super fun. Yeah. And then the lake. Okay, I'm gonna put you on the spot. If you had one place that you, if people are never going back to Cleveland after this for what you know, like it's just their bucket listing. What is one place that you're like, oh, this is like a cool spot on Lake Erie? Like, what's your favorite place?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. So for eating, I would do summer place. That's like my I love that restaurant. I love it, it has a beautiful view of the lake. You can also see downtown. Um, Pure W is great too, but summer place is like where I go for like anniversaries. I took my employees there for dinner last year. Like, I love it. We're gonna go to dinner there.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so it's gonna be filled with sugar connors. We're gonna summer place.

SPEAKER_01

Make a reservation, make a reservation now, but summer place. It's it's like wonderful, and asked to sit by the window. Um, and then or PRW, honestly, asked to sit by the window at PRW too. But I just like love summerplace. Um, and then also you mentioned the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So when we were walking from the uh convention center to the tunnel to the parking garage yesterday, because we did a walkthrough of the convention center. I posted some pictures on the Instagram. Although this will be if we're like in the future right now, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, yes. We're we're filming or this is why. So it's okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um but they it was all about the rock and roll hall of fame. It made me realize I haven't been there since I was a kid. So if you guys go, whatever day you're going, I might join you if it makes sense for me because it looked so incredible. And I don't think people realize how cool the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is. Um travel to come to it.

SPEAKER_00

It's so cool that I was able to make a band t-shirt called the Sugar Mamas. And I have like logos like a whole it was a whole thing they had when I was there. It was like myself a rock band t-shirt and it was called the Sugar Mamas.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, I love that. Yeah, we were like walking through this tunnel and it was all decorated with rock and roll hall of fame stuff, and we're like, do we need to go here right now? Like I was like, I have not, but I don't even remember. I was probably 12, like, I don't even know. So I need to make a trip to do that soon, too. Yeah, yeah. So there's lots of cool stuff in Cleveland. I did post on this Instagram story, Porco is like a tiki lounge in Cleveland. Like, there's so many cool little things, um, places you can go. Like my uh one good friend is a bartender there. She does like specialty cocktails, she's like famous in like the bartending industry. Like, there's just so many cool things in Cleveland, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think that if you've been listening all the way to the end, thank you, audience, for doing that.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Realize that if you are going to take your career to the next level, you are going to network with friends at a place like Summer Place overlooking Lake Erie with new friends that you never knew that you were going to meet. They will become your friends for life no matter where they live. You are going to walk into a class and really stretch your brain and learn something new. I learned something new. Sarah learns something new every time we go to these things, especially as it relates to our current state of the union with AI and technology and business building and laws and all the things that we need to know. You have now we didn't have the ability when we first started to walk up to an owner in a booth and say, Hey, walk me through um how I get your mud, you know, mud finishing mud mask. I'm struggling with it in my in my treatment room. This is the place where you can learn from actual professionals who are killing it in the industry. And then from here on out, I think is the most important is you've had this great time at the SugarCon, you've met these amazing people, and now you know them afterwards. So you can watch out, you can continue your career and your time and now lift your ship and hopefully pass that on to others. So, Sarah, kudos to you, sister, because thank you. This was not only a difficult road. Yeah, you what I was so amazed by seeing your presence at the last sugar con, holding your head high, you were smiling, you were calm, and it was it was really the best conference that I've been to, and I've been to a lot of them.

SPEAKER_01

It was a lot to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I learned a bunch, and I wouldn't be standing by your side if that wasn't the case.

SPEAKER_01

So cheers to you.

SPEAKER_00

Good job.

SPEAKER_01

That really means a lot to me hearing that from you. Thank you, Shannon.

SPEAKER_00

Good, you're welcome. Okay, everyone, I look forward to seeing you in SugarCon. If you do not come up and give Sarah and I a hug and take a picture with us, um, then you have missed out because we are a lot of fun, and we will actually, you know, maybe dazzle you with some jokes or wisdom. You never know what you're gonna get. You never know what I'm gonna say. So over caffeinated. You never know. Yes, but come spend some time with us. And Sarah, as always, it is an absolute blast to have you.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you so much for having me, Shannon.

SPEAKER_00

All right, have a good one. See you at SugarCon.

SPEAKER_01
